Victor Duke and Chef Jon Riordan came together in the spring of 2022 when Victor moved to Charleston from outside of Destin, Florida. Chef Jon, who has worked in the Charleston F&B community since he relocated here from New York City in 2002, was thrilled to have a new partner to explore life's offerings, and thus a beautiful friendship was born. In the Fall of 2023, Chef Jon found himself looking for a new avenue of business, and with Victor Duke's urging, got together with Tin Roof's Erin Tyler, and Victor Duke's Kitchen was born!
As a co founder and namesake for the business, Victor Duke is primarily a collaborator in the overall vision and direction of the company. Unfortunately, due to the lack of an opposable thumb, he is unable to participate operationally, though he does visit the Tin Roof from time to time when the weather is nice and he can play in the back yard. That's where Chef Jon Riordan, an alumnus from the Johnson & Wales Charleston Campus, and 30 year industry veteran steps in. Jon's experience dates back to 1990, when he was attending the University of Chicago and got a job as a banquet waiter at the Hyatt Regency on the Windy City's Wacker Drive. He took that exposure back to NYC where he worked at some notable 3 star restaurants in Manhattan through the 1990's that are now closed. In 2002, Chef Jon moved to Charleston to attend Johnson & Wales, and has not looked back. Among his highlights in Charleston, Chef Jon has worked with Hamby Catering as their Director of Operations, The Hilton Garden Inn Waterfront as their Director of Food and Beverage, and as Chef and Owner for his own catering firm, Heights of Charleston Catering and Events.
Our motto at Victor Duke's Kitchen is simple: Fine Food for Fine Folks. Our aim, therefore is equally simple. To provide quick, simple, great tasting food. While we are not able to boast that we never use frozen food, or only use hand picked organic produce we can boast that everything that comes from our kitchen is delicious, made with care, and is able to scratch that culinary itch. We believe that a quick dinner or a boozy brunch should be fun and easy on the brain. So come in to the Tin Roof, grab a drink, a bite, and enjoy yourself.
